Case-law subject matter is used for indexing decisions and opinions issued by the courts of the Union and published on EUR-Lex. This directory enables the cases or the main points of law raised in the cases, decisions and conclusions to be categorised within the scope of the competences conferred on the European Union to which they relate. Each subject and each associated code thus corresponds, with some exceptions, to the legal basis of the corresponding competence, as defined by the provisions of the various treaties establishing the European Union. It is maintained by the Court of Justice, published by the Publications Office of the European Union and disseminated on the EU Vocabularies website.
